Milling has been tough. It was always something Steve wasn’t looking forward to, but it had/has to be done. After 8 weeks of milling and many, many disappointments (chainsaws breaking, difficulties with repairs, trees falling wrong and rotten trees to name a few), Steve’s fed up with milling and needs to take a break.

The guys all came back on Friday afternoon and we took the weekend off to spend as a family together. We had some social time too, celebrating Thanksgiving with our coworkers here on the centre we live on currently. It was relaxing and we started to feel better after the fourth time now we’ve been apart for 2 weeks. The plan was for the guys to go back in on Thursday for one final push to get the Hansen’s house up, another 2 and a half week trip to finish up.

It’s not just the time actually on the trips that contribute to the stress though. Between these trips we’ve only been able to sneak in a day off or two because preparing for the next trip needs to happen. Arranging cargo for the upcoming helicopter flights, buying supplies and fetching missing building materials have kept us pushing even between trips.

supply buying is tiring for all of us!

I have also not been feeling great and it’s getting harder to be separated from each other and being a single mum all the time.

So we decided after talking with some other people it would be good for us to postpone Steve going into Kovol again for the next buildtrip. He was supposed to be leaving again today, but now he will be going in a weeks time. Please pray both of us would recover well over these next days and that we could still serve our coworkers in different ways. Please keep praying too for the buildtrip, for safety and good progress and for Natalie and Stacie as they will be without husbands for the next 2.5 weeks again.

Upon return there was a package from the UK, we won’t be short on Yorkshire tea anytime soon 😀

It was tough to decide to step out when the other two families will be continuing the work, but we (and particularly Steve) feel like we need a little extra time to rest so we can keep going.
