Run with endurance. Not really a new idea, not really very insightful, and it could have been said by anyone. The thing that has grabbed me though is ‘the race that is set before us’. It hit me, this is the path God himself has specifically set for me. It’s no accident I’m here facing these challenges
We’ve managed to cut around 50 joists so far and have been turning the bits not deep enough to be a joist into wood for our staircases. We’ve settled into our rythem, we’re making progress and then morning rain.
Two weeks of full time chainsaw work!
I was dreading the milling trips. I’ve got a set of skills and strengths, but house building and chainsaw skills aren’t anywhere near them! Every time I saw a video of a missionary team building a house I inwardly despaired of how hard it was going to be.

Plan A had us going back into Kovol to start milling at the beginning of June. Helicopter maintenance delayed us by about 2 months, and a good thing too – our chainsaws just arrived!
Our other means of communication is when Kovol people hike over to the Pal missionaries a 4-hour hike from them. Several times now Kovol people have come over to ask “So… where are our missionaries?”
This past 2 weeks of allowing ourselves to rest – to not look for work or productive things to do at all has been wonderful. No emails for 2 weeks (thanks in part to my antivirus updating and interfering with my email program :)) and lots of time to explore with Oscar.
